Seven gamblers arrested in Jumla, Rs 180,000 recovered

The District Police Office, Jumla, has said that seven people who were gambling were taken into custody in a raid in Chandannath Municipality-1 based on confidential information.

Seven gamblers arrested in Jumla, Rs 180,000 recovered

Police in Jumla district have arrested seven gamblers while they were in the middle of a gambling operation. According to the District Police Office, Jumla, approximately Rs 179,285 was recovered after a raid on them.

The arrested persons were caught by the police while they were gambling at the house of Desang Tamang in Chandannath Municipality-1. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabin Babu Regmi said, 'They were caught after a raid based on confidential information. A case of illegal activities has been filed against them.'

According to DSP Regmi, the police have started a special surveillance campaign targeting the festival as information has been received about gambling in the areas around the district headquarters in recent days.

He said, 'Special surveillance has been increased to control corruption such as theft, fighting, gambling, drug use and trafficking during the festival. Anyone who violates the law will be subject to action.'

At the time of the arrest, the police had deployed a large number of police officers in plain clothes and at possible locations. According to him, joint patrolling by the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police has been carried out keeping a special watch at night.

The District Police Office, Jumla, has said, 'If there is any activity that disturbs the peace, causes fights and causes distortion, the police should be informed immediately.'
