Among the development ministries of Karnali province, the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy Development has spent the most budget in the last financial year 2081/82. The ministry has spent 2.28 billion (79.54 percent) out of the 2.86 billion budget.
According to the Office of the State Controller of Accounts, the ministry spent 80.55 percent on capital expenditure and 67.36 percent on current expenditure last year. The Karnali government had brought a budget of 31 billion 41 crore rupees in the last financial year. Out of which 20 billion 30 million 11 was spent, the office said. According to the
office, 9 billion 34 crores (75.5 percent) were spent on current and 10 billion 96 crores (58.63 percent) on the capital side, said Ratnaprasad Subedi, State Controller of Accounts. According to him, the government, which aims to implement 80 percent of the budget, has spent only 64.82 percent.
Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy Development Office Kalikot has been honored for its excellent performance in the financial year 2081/82. Ministry spokesman Padmaraj Devkota said that the office managed to implement 91.85 percent of the allocated budget last year, while Dolpa (90.29 percent) was second and Salyan (90.23 percent) was the best.
According to him, the ministry has already signed performance contracts with its subordinate offices for the current financial year. Minister of Water Resources and Energy Development Vijaya Budha has signed a performance agreement with 9 district offices including the Secretary Indradev Bhattasag and the Secretary of Water, Irrigation and Energy Development Directorate.
According to Devkota, the spokesperson of the ministry, the capital and current expenditure of the ministry has increased by almost 12 percent this year compared to last year. In the current financial year, the budget allocation of 3.83 billion rupees has been made in the ministry.
