The Rapti highway, which was blocked due to the landslides that came with the incessant rains, has been opened after 14 hours. The blocked road was opened only after the JCB removed the landslide that fell in Chorkhola on Monday evening.

Rapti Highway was blocked from 6 pm on Monday due to a landslide in Kapurkot rural municipality 3 Chorkhola.

As JCB was unable to work during the night, the blocked road could not be opened immediately. Because of this, vehicles and passengers were stranded on that road section.

Police Inspector Baburam Basnet, Information Officer of District Police Office Salyan, said that after the road was opened, the stopped vehicles were heading towards their destination.

JCB took three hours to remove the landslide in Chorkhola, he informed. According to him, the Rapti Highway was blocked for a long time because the JCB could not work during the night and the rockfall along with the landslide did not stop.
