Karnali Province, which has relatively few tourists despite its abundant tourism potential, has formed a Tourism Promotion Committee under the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry and Environment to promote its tourist destinations inside and outside Nepal.
The Karnali State Government Council of Ministers has formed a tourism promotion committee in accordance with clause (b) of sub-section 2 of section 40 of the Tourism Act, 2078. According to the law, the chairman of the committee will be the secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment. Suresh Adhikari, Minister of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, has handed over the appointment letter to the officials of the committee.
According to the decision of the Cabinet, the members are Padma Bahadur Shahi from Federation of Commerce and Industry, Karnali Province, Devi Krishna Rokaya from Mugu hotelier Rara, Bhanubhakt Khadka, tourism businessman and entrepreneur from Surkhet, Mahendrajung Shahi from Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, Ramesh Sunar from Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development and photojournalist Bharatbandhu Thapa. Karnali Province's Tourism Act 2078 has paved the way for the Karnali Province Tourism Act 2078 to create new jobs in the tourism sector, protect rivers, lakes, ponds, collect details of art, culture and natural heritage, develop and promote trekking (hiking) and rafting infrastructure in order to create new jobs in the tourism sector.
