Dipendra Magrati, Information Officer and Senior Accounts Officer of the Provincial Treasury and Accounts Control Office, informed that the expenditure progress of the Karnali Province Government is around 35 percent as of May 10. The budget of Karnali province for the current financial year was 31 billion 41 crore 41 thousand. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning is the one that spends the most on the
ministry. This ministry has progressed 58.54 percent of expenditure. The budget of this ministry was 17 crore 53 lakh 55 thousand . State Accounts Control Office said that 10 million 26 lakh 55 thousand were spent.
After economic affairs, the expenditure progress of the Ministry of Social Development is more. Out of the total budget of 5 billion 71 crore 94 lakh 85 thousand, 2 billion 54 crore 88 lakh 58 thousand has been spent. 44.56 percent belongs to the Ministry of Progress.
The budget expenditure of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, which has a similar development budget, is 30 percent. 36.12 percent of the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has been spent, while the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law has spent the least 18.84 percent . Similarly, 36.53 percent of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry and Environment, 32.06 percent of the Ministry of Water Resources and Energy Development, and 36.87 percent of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives have been spent.
Accounts Officer Magrati estimated that the expenditure of the province would reach 50 to 60 percent as there is more expenditure in May and June. He said, "Even though the condition of spending in the province is not satisfactory, it is improving". It seems that the spending progress will increase in the coming year.
The opposition party, Maoist, has accused the state government of not being able to spend the given budget and moving at a slow pace. Krishna Bahadur GC, the chief whip of the Maoists, who is also a former minister, accused the government of not being able to spend the budget and stalling the plans that were about to be completed by not giving the budget.
"Consumers have not been entrusted with the work, they have not been able to make contracts on time, they have not been able to create spending procedures," he said, "because of which the state government's spending progress has not increased ." Because the government is unable to spend the annual budget, the development that the people want has not been possible.'
Bedraj Singh, Member of Karnali State Assembly of Congress and Minister of Pre-Economic Affairs and Planning, said that it is sad that there is no improvement in the annual spending rate. He said that the budget could not be spent because the government delayed making the expenditure standards and procedures. He says that there is no reason to say that the annual budget cannot be spent and that the budget is reduced. He says that only if the government can work by making expenditure standards and procedures, the progress of expenditure will increase .
