Tilgaon Flood: Karnali government sent relief materials after a week

The Karnali State government has sent relief materials to those displaced by the avalanche in Tilgaon of Namkha Rural Municipality-6 of Humla. A week after the avalanche, the state government sent relief materials on Thursday.

On June 1, around 10:30 pm, two lakes burst and an avalanche occurred, leaving Tilgaon residents displaced.  According to ward president Paljor Lama, 33 people from 21 families are living in Tripal. Although there were no human casualties due to the avalanche, the physical damage was huge.

Relief materials including 5 sets of tents (temporary houses), 20 quintals of food, 18 sets of solar panels and mattress sets have been sent, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law. According to the request of District Administration Office Humla, the spokesperson of the Ministry, Uttam Gautam informed. Similarly, the government team has reached Humla to find out the cause of the floods and landslides in Tilgaon. 

Tilgaon Flood: Karnali government sent relief materials after a week Senior Divisional Engineer Sushil Kumar Shrestha of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority led a three-member team on Thursday  Departed from Humla for Til village. The team consists of hydrologist engineer Souhadra Joshi of the Department of Water and Meteorology and Senior Divisional Geologist Shivkumar Baskota of the Department of Mines and Geology.

According to Lama, the head of the ward, the avalanche has caused great damage to the Tilkhola small hydropower project, farms, wells, drinking water and Dharamshala.
