Dolpa is divided into three parts namely lower, middle and upper.  The national road network has been connected till Dunai in Dolpa in November 2075. But in the northern region of Upper Dolpa, there is no condition to connect the national road network immediately.

The 33 km section of Bheri Corridor, which connects Nepal China border area Marim and Dho Dunai to India via Upper Dolpa, Lasicap Sisaul, has not been started because of hard rocks.

There are three local levels in Upper Dolpa: She-Foksundo, Dolpobuddha and Charkatangsong. Most households there have at least one Chinese motorcycle. Dho, Tinje, Phal and other settlements in Upper Dolpa are near the Chinese border. You can reach the border in one hour from Tinje by motorcycle.

Every year after the month of July, the border opens for fifteen to one month . For that, you have to get a border pass from the district administration. When the checkpoint is open, the residents of Upper Dolpa buy rice, salt, oil, clothes and other daily necessities, including motorcycles.

Motorcycles costing between 5 to 7 lakhs in Nepal can be bought in China for 2 to 3 lakhs. That's why Upolo Dolpavasi says that motorbikes are kept at every house. It takes two to three days to reach Upper Dolpa from Dunai, the district headquarters.

There is no temporary or permanent check post or customs office in the Nepal-China border area in Upper Dolpa.

Motorcycles bought from the Chinese area have made the daily life of upper Dolpavasi easier. There are settlements in Upper Dolpa that take a whole day to reach from one settlement to another. However, locals say that it is very easy to reach from one settlement to another because of the motorcycle.

"There are about 2,000 motorcycles in three municipalities, these motorcycles have made the daily lives of the upper Dolpavasi very easy," said Pemma Dharke Gurung, vice president of Dolpobuddha Rural Municipality.

'The state has not been able to understand the problem of remote residents, the upper Dolpa has not yet been connected to the road network, due to which the state is at a disadvantage.'

Petrol used in motorcycles is transported from Mustang. In Dhoma, petrol costs Rs 300 per liter. Earlier, when it was brought from Dunai, it was bought and sold for up to 600 rupees per liter. Now, after the road is connected from Mustang, the price of Nepali goods including petrol has decreased. Upper Dolpali, who shopped from Dunai until last year, now reaches Mustang.

To reach Dho Tinje in upper Dolpa, one has to walk for three days from Dunai and because the cost of transporting goods in Khachhad is expensive, local traders say that now they do business through Mustang.

Initiatives are being taken to establish a temporary customs office to collect revenue during the opening of the Chinese border  Chief District Officer Rom Bahadur Mahat informed.
