It has been decided to open Yarcha Patan in Dolpa from the 5th of June. Chief District Officer Rom Bahadur Mahat informed that the all-party meeting held in Dunai on Sunday decided to open the entire Patan in She-Foksundo National Park area and Division Forest area from June 5th for Yarchagumba collection.
He said that in addition to fixing the date for opening the collection of yarcha from the meeting, armed forces and Nepal Police will be mobilized for security if there is a demand from the community forest user committee in Patan.
It has been decided on 11 points to organize the collection of patterns this year. Nurendra Aryal, Chief Conservation Officer of She-Foksundo National Park, informed that it has been decided to cooperate with the relevant committee and local level to reward individuals or groups who collect waste in Patan area with cash for the conservation of the precious herb Yarchagumba, which is disappearing. According to him, since the park staff and the army have been mobilized for patrolling the Patan area, action will be taken against those who reach the Patan area before the specified date.
Just last Friday, 14 people who reached Patan secretly were arrested and the legal process was started, according to the Nikanj office. Every year, thousands of people come to Patan in the high Himalayan region of Dolpa to search for Yarcha. There are three types of entry permit to go to Yarcha Tipn Patan Jan. According to which, a fee of 1,000 has been set for residents within the intermediate area, 2,000 for those within Dolpa district and 3,000 for those outside the district.
Some of the community forest user committees in the division forest area have opened their own yarcha patan. Mun Rawat, Divisional Forest Officer, informed that since the decision regarding the opening of Yarcha Patan has been fixed and the date has been decided, the Patan of the forest area should also be opened on June 5. Commercial collection of yarcha in Dolpa has been started since 2040.
