After the maintenance, water started coming to the old stream, the consumer is happy

Khamme Damai of Paganath in Bhagwatimai rural municipality-1 of the district had a solid water supply in his house. But there was no water in the stream since 6 years.

As the operation and management of the scheme was not reliable, the condition of the streams in the entire village was the same. "Somewhere the pipes were broken, weeds had already grown in the tank." He says, "Demanding for a new plan did not work". During the repair, water started coming in the old stream now.'

When Savik was a village, an organization called Neva had provided drinking water facilities to all the households of Paganath residents. But due to the sale of pipelines in some places in the last few years, the channels built in the yard were dilapidated. 

According to Bhagwati Mai Rural Municipality, the Gauthali Water Supply and Sanitation Project, which was built in the current financial year, has been put into operation after repairs. 100 taps and drains have been constructed in 112 households of Pagnath, Pokhiranda and Halsim tolls of Ward No. 1.

Water has been added to this project from another spring after the water source has decreased. Now water has been provided to Pagnath Health Chowki and Jwala Basic School through this project.

In Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality 7 Lamatda, a few years ago, the Rural Water Resources Management Project constructed a drinking water project. But this project also could not be operated sustainably . According to the program of the last financial year of the rural municipality to repair and improve dilapidated projects, this project was renovated again . 18 streams were also constructed for 20 households there.

Chitra Bahadur Khadka, Chairman of Lamatda Water Supply and Sanitation Project Consumer Committee, said that the project, which had been abandoned, has resumed operations after repairs. Besta large water project was in the middle class in terms of maintenance . Bringing water from the Chisapani spring, drinking water pipes and wells have been constructed for 10 households in Sangutada. Water has been brought from a place called Ukali in Kholgadi where there is a dense settlement of the Wadi community.

30 houses have been added and water supply has been constructed. Tharim Chokta Postal Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Bhagwati Mai 5 countries has been repaired and put into operation in the current financial year. Water source has been added from 400 meters ahead . 3 intakes have been added . Where the project has provided drinking water facilities to 120 households. 41 households have been added after the renovation of the

project. Consumers are also happy after the project has been repaired and put into operation on time at a low cost. 

With the support of Sustainable Drinking Water, Sanitation and Sanitation Project for All (Suswa), Bhagwati Mai Rural Municipality has continued the project construction program by repairing the water supply project in general, medium and full. 

In drinking water and sanitation projects, 20 percent labor donation, 10 percent and 70 percent projects of the rural municipality and 70 percent of the budget are being mobilized with the consumer's one percent cash support .

In Bhagwatimai, 5 similar dilapidated projects were renovated and put into operation last year. Mina Khadka Thapa, the vice president of the village, said that the large budget of the municipality has been saved due to the maintenance of old projects. "There was a trend of making new plans even in places where normal repairs were done," she says.

The consumer committee has been upgraded as a drinking water institution and registered with the water resources committee of the rural municipality. 9 consumer organizations have been registered in Bhagwatimai.

rural municipality and Suswa project have been conducting capacity development programs for the officials of consumer organizations for sustainable management and operation of the project. General maintenance of the project, chowkidar expenses have started to be borne by the consumer organizations themselves. Prakash Adhikari, Facilitator of Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (Has), expressed his belief that the project will be run sustainably if consumer organizations are strengthened. 

So far, 20 officers of consumer organizations have been provided with training on sustainable project management. Similarly, the project has been providing safely chlorinated drinking water in every stream through inline chlorination.

It has been reported that the project has provided safe water to about 57 thousand 176 people with the support of Nepal government, Finland government and European Union for three years.
