The Karnali government is about to start a 'home insurance' program to protect private and residential houses in Karnali from damage caused by various calamities. For this, Home Insurance Program Operation Procedure-2081 has been implemented.
The procedure has been approved by the Council of Ministers meeting held last Tuesday. For the program, the government has arranged to pay the amount of insurance fee that will be calculated from the risk assessment of a maximum of 20 lakh rupees per household. For this, the state government has allocated 40.75 million rupees this year. According to the
procedure, compensation will be paid through the insurance of houses damaged by 9 types of disasters including earthquake, fire, flood and inundation, windstorm.
Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Rajeev Vikram Shah said that the state government will pay the insurance fee of one house for one family. "This province is also a high-risk area in terms of disasters, last year's earthquake has also taught us a lesson," he said, "The insurance program has been introduced to guarantee the financial security of the damage and loss of the private residential houses of Karnali due to natural calamities." The process will start after sending the details of the houses selected by the local level to the ministry.
