Jumla-based Karnali Institute of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital is going to operate a 50-bed satellite hospital at Rakam Karnali in Dailekh. In Rakam, there was already an initiative to operate a hospital under Pratishthian.
With the decision of the Federal Council of Ministers on Monday to operate the basic hospital in Rakam Karnali under the foundation, a 50-bed hospital will be built in Rakam. Rakam locals are excited about the decision to start a foundation hospital in Karnali, where almost 9 lakh population of Karnali and Far West can receive services. Patients from Kalikot, Dailekh, Bajura, Bajhang, Acham, Humla and Mugu will be easily taken to Rakam Hospital. The goal of the foundation is to provide quality services by managing skilled human resources in the
hospital, and to create an environment where money will come for treatment even from Surkhet. "There is a plan to upgrade the basic hospital and run it with 50 beds," said Dr. Mangal Rawal said, "The hospital will not only provide health services, but also work in the fields of education and research." Rawal said.
Karnali Health Science Foundation has been given the responsibility of the entire management and operation of the basic hospital in Athabis Municipality-4 Rakam Karnali. The construction of the basic hospital building is in the final stage. The foundation said that it will operate services from a 50-bed hospital as soon as possible.
This hospital, located next to the Karnali highway, informed the registrar of prestige, Nripendra Mahat, that locals and travelers can get health services. "This is an important step to provide access to quality health services for the backward people," said Registrar Mahat, "Now all three levels of government should support this operation." The
foundation is currently running a 300-bed hospital in Jumla. As doctorate studies are being conducted in the institute, the manpower produced here will get jobs in hospitals in Karnali. With the establishment of the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences in 2068, Karnali is now starting to produce doctors and send health personnel all over the country.
