High Court order to conduct SWIU elections in Midwestern University

The Surkhet High Court has ordered to hold the elections of the Independent Students' Union (SWAVIU) in the Midwest University.

 

The joint bench of Surkhet High Court judge Matrik Prasad Bhandari and Madan Pokhrel has issued an order in the name of the university. In the order, it is said that the elections should be held by the next Chait 20th.

"The Midwest University Executive Council formed an election committee headed by Bir Bahadur Poudel as the coordinator to conduct the Midwest University SWIU election on 2081/05/28 and the said election committee published the election schedule to hold the SWIU election on 2081/05/28. Since the validity of the election schedule and the work done according to it seems to have expired on today's date, the High Court said, is .

If it is necessary to form an election committee for the said election, a court order has been issued to form and publish the election schedule and make sure that all the students who are studying till the date of publication of the voter list will participate in the election. 

After the term of the officers elected from the first SWU election on August 8, 2073 ended in 2076, MU's SWU is leadershipless. Three years after that, the election process was postponed after the students filed a petition in the court with the demand that they should be able to participate in the voting in the election schedule scheduled on March 5, 2079. 

After that, the fifth semester students of biology group filed a writ in the court on August 26 saying that their names were not included in the final list published by the election officer's office in the election scheduled for August 28, 2081. The election was postponed after the writ. Elections have already been completed in Angik campus under the university in March 2079.
