More than five thousand teacher posts are vacant in Karnali province. Balveer Sunar, Senior Education Officer of Ministry of Social Development, Education Division of Karnali Province, said that there are still 5,549 vacant teachers in Karnali.

There are only 11,865 teachers in 2,931 public schools in Karnali. At present it is 17 thousand three hundred and 84 on the basis of schools. Six hundred and forty-four teachers in nine hundred and twenty-seven primary schools are inadequate. There are 8,793 teaching posts, but now there are only 8,149. Similarly, 2,699 teachers are insufficient in 1,400 lower secondary schools. There should be 4,560 teachers at this level, but now 1,861 are working.

Likewise, one thousand seven hundred and forty nine teachers are insufficient in six hundred and five Mavi. There are 3 thousand 25 teachers who should be at this level, but now there are only 1 thousand 276 teachers. In 259 higher secondary schools, 457 teachers are inadequate. Officer Sunar informed that there should be 1,36 teachers at this level, but 579 are currently employed. 

According to him, there is a shortage of English, mathematics and science teachers in Karnali. According to the law, the minimum number of teachers should be three at the primary level, four at the junior level, five at the secondary level and four at the higher secondary level. 

Teachers have been appointed in various alternatives after the teacher is underage. He said that teachers had to be appointed and taught from private sources, local level, state level and federal support. More than 600,000 students are studying from Kindergarten to Higher Secondary Education, while the literacy rate of Karnali is 76.1 percent.
