A three-year-old girl was killed by strangulation in Barekot. Asmita Sarki, the three-year-old daughter of Shiv Bahadur Sarki, a resident of Barekot rural municipality-7 Syala, was killed by slitting her throat. She had been missing since Thursday afternoon and her body was found covered with straw. The family found it only at 10 pm.
According to the police, the girl may have been strangled to death after an attempted rape. District Police Chief DSP Purushottam Prasad Pandey informed that the police arrested a 12-year-old boy from Barekot Rural Municipality-6 Tansi and started investigation on the charge of murdering a girl child.
According to him, it has been revealed that the child killed the child using a sharp weapon. ''It has been revealed from the preliminary investigation that the girl was stabbed and killed after she screamed while trying to rape. Rape does not appear to have happened. But it can be assumed that they have tried," DSP Pandey said.
The child studying in class-4 came as a guest in the neighborhood on Thursday. After the murder, the boy, who ran away to his home, was arrested by the police and kept in a child custody cell.
