Drug shortage in Kharpunath of Humla

There is a shortage of medicine in Kharpunath Rural Municipality. There has been a shortage of medicine in all the health institutions within the village for a month.

Health workers have said that the patients are facing problems due to the lack of free medicines distributed by the government. There are four health posts, one community hospital, one basic health center and 6 basic health units in the rural municipality.

Even though they used to go to health institutions to get sick, they used to return without treatment due to lack of medicine. Dalsur Pariyar of Rayan village said that when he goes to the health post to get medicine, the health workers return it saying that there is no medicine. There is a lack of Cetamol as well as medicines needed for patients with colds and asthma in health institutions.

According to Haribhakt Shahi, the health coordinator of the rural municipality, there is a shortage of medicines due to the delay in calling for tenders for the procurement of medicines. He said that before Dussein he had bought medicines worth five lakh rupees. He said, 'The medicine purchased in Dashain has run out.'

Bishnu Bahadur Shahi, Acting Chief Administrative Officer of the Rural Municipality, said that the tender for the purchase of medicines and equipment needed in the health institutions here has been accepted. said. He said that medicines will be arranged by the first week of January.

Due to the lack of medicine at the health post, patients have been rushing to the district hospital Simkot for treatment. Pius Basic Health Unit of Kharpunath-1, Karanga of Ward No. 3, Lekh of Ward No. 4, Chhipra Basic Health Unit, Durpa and Takla Basic Health Unit of Ward No. 5 lack of medicine.
