Chauri started dying of an unknown disease

Mung bean farmers are worried as chauri started dying due to an unknown disease. Subas Chandra Rawal, chief administrative officer of Karmarong rural municipality in Mugu, said that after learning that the chauris are dying rapidly, they have sent a team with 6 animal health workers with medicine.

According to Charten Lama of Karmarong rural municipality-2 in Mugu, more than 50 chauris have died due to an unknown disease.

Chharten said that saliva comes out of the mouth, pale green stools, light blood appears in the stools and within 24 hours of these symptoms, Chauri dies. Chief Administrative Officer Rawal said that since the municipality's medicine and manpower were not enough, they sent a letter to the District Animal Hospital and Animal Services Office in Gamagadi and Karnali Provinces. He said that it is necessary to collect the swabs of the chauris and send them to the laboratory for testing.

Due to the cold, the locals of Mugu village have moved to Tarai temporarily. Since there is no one in the village, it is difficult for the team of health workers to reach the lake where there are chauri. Since the chauris are located on the side of the mountain, no single data has been collected about how many chauris have died. According to the rural municipality, more than 100 chauri may have died by Wednesday morning.

Assistant Chief District Officer of Mugu Diwakar Mishra said that the team of animal hospital and animal service office is also going towards the incident site with medicines. Since it takes one and a half days to reach the place where Chauri is staying, no single details could be given. He said, "The news that Chauri is dying of an unknown disease is true, but as it takes time to reach the team, the official data is not available."
