Surkhet Jail has been without medical personnel for the past 5 years. If the posted health workers did not come here, then the prison has been without health workers for 5 years after the employees who were working on the post were adjusted to the local level.

Rameshwar Choudhary, a senior AHEB officer working at Veer Hospital under the Ministry of Health, was assigned to Surkhet Jail. But he has not come to appear yet.

After the assigned health workers did not come to appear, the inmates in the prison had to be taken to the provincial hospital for treatment. Bhuwan Gautam, information officer of the prison, said that since there are no health workers in the prison, the patients with common cold and pressure have to be taken to the state hospital.

Prison Administration Department, Health Service Department and Ministry of Home Affairs have been informed that there are no health workers in the prison, but the prison administration has informed that the health workers have not come to appear so far.

Narayan Subedi, coordinator of Karnali Province Office of Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC), says that the lack of health workers in prisons for 5/5 years is a serious negligence of the government. "Prisoners in prisons also have human rights," he said. This is a step against human rights.'

There are no health workers in prisons for a long time . Because of this, the prisoners have not been able to get timely and general health treatment. Senior citizens in prison and patients with various diseases have to have their blood pressure checked regularly. Assistant Chief District Officer Narayan Pandey said that the district administration office, Surkhet, is also demanding that the healthcare workers assigned to the prison should come. He said that the initiatives and efforts of the administration are continuing. But the administration is also ignorant as to why the employees assigned so far have not come. Assistant Chief District Officer Pandey said that even when the officials of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee came, this matter was raised.

'We have also spoken,' he said, 'We have informed the higher authorities from the administration and the prison administration. But the health worker has not come yet. There are 400 male and 40 female prisoners of various cases in Surkhet District Jail till Wednesday. There are more than 400 prisoners in the prison with a capacity of 100 people.
