'High Mast' smart street lights have been installed in 10 main locations of Baglung district headquarters. The smart lights have been installed in a joint partnership between Baglung Municipality and Nepal Electricity Authority to provide light at night.
Baglung Municipality's 2,393,524 rupees and the NEA's 1,288,821 rupees have been installed in the market area at a cost of 3,682,345 rupees, said Baglung Municipality Mayor Basanta Kumar Shrestha. He said that street lights have been installed at the intersections of the market as part of the 'Bright Baglung' program. ‘We brought the poles from China and the lights used in them from India,’ he said, ‘It has better quality and better quality than other lights.’
In the first phase, lights have been installed in the areas of Loktantrik Chowk, Hospital Chowk, Campus Gate, District Administration Office Gate, Chipleti Bus Park, ATM Chowk in Upallachaur, Baglung Bus Park, Maldhunga, the district entrance, Kalika Bhagwati Temple Gate, and Traffic Chowk in the market area.
The installed lights are up to 13 feet tall and have up to six 200-watt bulbs installed in each, said Dilip Maraseni, head of the Baglung Authority. He said that the street lights installed at one place will illuminate up to 200 meters.
The municipality has stated that it will coordinate with the local toll improvement committee for the payment of the monthly electricity bill after the installation of the lights and for its security. The municipality is preparing to install lights in other places in Baglung in the coming days.
