Gorkha Municipality is now going to operate the Prithvi Narayan Small Urban Drinking Water Project itself, citing irregularities and irregularities in water distribution and organization. Gorkha Municipality Mayor Krishna Rana said that the project will be operated through the Gorkha Municipality Drinking Water and Sanitation Management Board. The board meeting held on Chaitra 20 decided to operate the project. The construction of the Daraudi Lifting Drinking Water Project has also been completed to provide adequate drinking water to the Gorkha district headquarters after the water supply of Sana Sahari was insufficient.
The Daraudi Lifting Drinking Water Project was built with an investment of about Rs. 400 million. Daraudi will distribute water to other projects within the city, not to separate consumers. The project was built with a plan to distribute water through 21 drinking water consumer committees that have been distributing water to the district headquarters and surrounding areas.
‘Daraudi lifting has the capacity to provide 1.2 to 1.5 million liters of water,’ Rana said, ‘While it was sufficient, consumers did not get enough water when the water from Daraudi was blocked.’ Rana said that even when both drinking water projects were operating, there have been problems in regular water management in the district headquarters area. ‘Irregularities and irregularities have been seen in Prithvi Narayan Sana Sahari since before this, and the local government has also had to take responsibility for reducing and controlling it,’ he said.
The municipality has also stated that the current committee will be automatically dissolved after the board operates the Prithvi Narayan Sana Sahari project. ‘After completing the entire process, the Gorkha Municipality Drinking Water and Sanitation Management Board will assume all responsibility for the project,’ Rana said.
He said that he had written to the committee on Sunday in this regard and that work is underway to inform the concerned bodies including the district administration and the water supply department. The board is also preparing to investigate the irregularities and irregularities seen in Sana Sahari and take action. A complaint was also filed with the Authority regarding the irregularities seen in Sana Sahari. The Authority has also written to the municipality for investigation and action.
