Mahavir, who was elected as an independent candidate from Myagdi and was re-elected as a member of the House of Representatives, has come to Pokhara to sell books immediately after winning the election.
Pun, who won with a double margin of votes, sold his autobiography in places such as Prithvi Chowk and Mahendra Pul in Pokhara on Monday.
'I sold 800 books in one day and earned Rs. 600,000,' he said. 'I have ordered more books from Kathmandu for sale.'
There was a crowd in Pokhara to take photos with Pun and buy books after signing them. Mahavir has been writing and selling autobiographies for the past three years to raise the necessary financial resources to operate an agricultural implement factory in Birgunj through the National Innovation Center, which he is the founder of.
Pun had come to contest the election in his birthplace, Myagdi, after resigning as the Minister of Education, Science and Technology of the interim government. Even before the Genji Movement, he had been selling books in various parts of the country.
He became the Education Minister for about four months in the interim government formed under the leadership of former Chief Justice Sushila Karki after the Genji agitation on 23 and 24 of last Bhadra. After winning the election in Myagdi with popular votes, independent candidate Pun returned to his old routine, requesting his supporters not to make a fuss in the name of celebrating victory.
Pun won by getting 22,850 votes. His rival, Harikrishna Shrestha of UML, got 7,910 votes. Pun says that the Election Commission has not yet made all the election results public and that he has gone out to sell books to make good use of his free time.
