The accident occurred on Friday morning at around 10:45 am due to brake failure of the tractor bearing the number Ga1Ta 4394.
The driver has died after a tractor carrying stones overturned in Dhingaun Lakuri Bhanjyang of Bharate, Dordi Rural Municipality-1, Lamjung.
According to the police, the tractor with the number Ga1ta 4394 crashed at around 10:45 am on Friday morning after its brakes failed. Police said that Sher Bahadur Tamang, 37, a resident of Nuwakot and currently residing in Sundarbazar Municipality-6, died in the accident.
The tractor, which was preparing to load stones and head towards its destination, suddenly overturned due to a sudden brake failure, according to the police. Police sources said that the front part of the tractor with the engine rose and fell, crushing the driver's seat, killing Tamang.
According to Dordi Rural Municipality-1 Ward Chairman Laxmi Prasad Adhikari, the tractor was preparing to transport stones towards Soling and Deurali, a slope. He said that information was received that the tractor was moving backwards while laying the road.
Police Inspector Abhishek Pandey of the District Police Office said that a police team was deployed immediately after receiving information about the incident and that the driver was crushed by the tractor. He informed that the police have reached the spot and a dozer has also been sent. The police have stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
