Initiatives have been taken to open the Kagbeni-Muktinath road, which was blocked due to heavy snowfall.

In coordination with the District Administration Office and Baragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality, an initiative has been taken to open the road by mobilizing the Kaligandaki Corridor (Beni-Jomsom-Korla) Road Project dozer.

In the presence of Ward Chairman of Baragung Muktikshetra-4, Karmaghyacho Gurung, the work of clearing the snow on the obstructed Kagbeni-Muktinath road has been started. For this, the project's dozer has reached the Kagbeni-Muktinath road to remove the thick snow, said Project Chief Tejashwi Sharma.

Although the Kagbeni-Muktinath road section is within the jurisdiction of the Infrastructure Development Office under the Gandaki Province Government, the Korala Road Project has sent a dozer to remove the snow from the road, considering the problems of the pilgrims going to Muktinath. Project Chief Sharma said that the project has already sent a dozer to remove the snow from the road.

Ward Chairman Gurung informed that dozers have been mobilized to clear snow from the Kagbeni-Muktinath road blocked by heavy snowfall on Tuesday. Ward Chairman Gurung said that the road dozers have already started clearing snow from the first bend of Kagbeni in coordination with the local administration and the rural municipality.

Ward Chairman Gurung said that since the road from Kagbeni to Muktinath Ranipauwa Bus Park is covered in thick snow, the road will be cleared by the evening to make traffic smooth.

Earlier, a team of the Armed Police Force Nepal based here had been deployed here on Wednesday morning to clear snow from the Kagbeni-Muktinath road blocked by heavy snowfall, but the snow removal work had been postponed due to the snowfall that did not stop. Today, the road department's dozers were mobilized as it would take a long time for the district-based security personnel to clear the snow from the blocked road, Ward Chairman Pramesh Gurung of Waragung Mukti Kshetra-1 informed that.

Hundreds of devotees were stranded in Kagbeni since Wednesday morning after the Muktinath road was blocked due to heavy snowfall. Pilgrims heading to Muktinath, who were waiting for the road to clear after the snow cleared, have been stuck in Kagbeni since Wednesday. Some pilgrims have reached Muktinath on horseback.

The Kagbeni-Muktinath road has been blocked due to snowfall, and even the Muktinath temple has become deserted. As devotees have not been able to attend, the daily activities of the Muktinath temple have been limited to regular prayers.
