The Muktinath Temple complex located in Muktikshetra-1, Waragung has become deserted after heavy snowfall.

The famous religious site Muktinath temple premises have become deserted after the Kagbeni-Muktinath road section was blocked due to snowfall.

Due to heavy snowfall, vehicles departing from Jomsom to Muktinath have not been able to move up since Wednesday morning due to thick snow on the Kagbeni-Muktinath blacktop road. Although the Armed Police Force team took the initiative to clear the blocked road by clearing the snow on Wednesday morning, the efforts to clear the snow were stopped due to the possibility of more snowfall.

Waragung Muktikshetra-1 Ward Chairman Pramesh Gurung informed that the road has been blocked due to thick snow at places including Kagbeni Selfie Park, Kalobhir, Khinga, Jharkot and other places under the Kagbeni-Muktinath road. Ward Chairman Gurung said that when the road was blocked due to snowfall, some devotees are going to Muktinath from Kagbeni on horseback.

Similarly, Muktinath Development Committee Manager Dinesh Bhusal informed that problems and challenges have been added to the arrival of tourists visiting Muktinath Temple after the snowfall. Before the snowfall, more than 500 tourists used to visit daily, but since Wednesday, the attendance of devotees has been very negligible.

Manager Bhusal said that until the blocked Kagbeni-Muktinath road is operational, the daily activities of the temple will be limited to regular worship. Due to heavy snowfall on Tuesday night, the Muktinath area has been completely covered with snow. Due to the snowfall, villages such as Jharkot, Khinga, Ranipauwa Bazaar, Purang, Chengur in the Waragung Mukti Kshetra have become completely covered with snow.

It is said that the snow has completely frozen the temple premises, 108 Dhara, and the bathing pond in front of the temple, which has hindered the devotees who have come here to take a bath and visit the temple. The cold has increased after the snowfall, so there is a risk that even the visitors may get cold.

The Kagbeni-Korla and Muktinath road sections have been blocked since Wednesday due to heavy snowfall in Mustang, according to the District Police Office, Mustang. According to Police Inspector Santosh Basyal, the road from Chhusang to Korla road has been blocked due to two feet of snow. He mentioned that the pilgrims going to Muktinath have been stopped in Kagbeni since Wednesday morning due to the road being blocked due to snowfall.

Similarly, Police Inspector Basyal said that the Kagbeni-Korla road may be operational after the snow melts if the weather clears. Police Inspector Basyal said that the normal life of Upper Mustang has been affected due to snowfall.
