Dharpatan Municipality Acting Chairman Dhan Bahadur Kayat said that normal life has been affected after snowfall since morning.
Dhorpatan, an upper region of Baglung, has been receiving heavy snowfall since Wednesday morning. Dhorpatan Valley-9 and Nisikhola Rural Municipality-3 have received one and a half feet of snow.
Dhorpatan Municipality Acting Chairman Dhan Bahadur Kayat said that life has been affected after snowfall since morning. ‘There is thick snow,’ Kayat said, ‘This has affected life in this area.’
Locals are staying safely indoors due to the snow. The areas surrounding the Dhorpatan Valley have been turned black due to the snowfall. Nisikhola Rural Municipality Chief Surya Bahadur Gharti said that snowfall is currently taking place in the Yangwang, Patihalne, Nang, Khanikhola, and Niseldhor areas of Nisikhola Rural Municipality.
‘People are not able to go out of their homes due to snowfall,’ he said, ‘Even livestock are in trouble.’ He also said that tap water has frozen. The Mid-Hill Highway in the Patihalne area on the border of Baglung and eastern Rukum has been completely blocked due to heavy snowfall, causing problems for travelers.
