River control work has begun in Lamakhet.
The Pokhara-based Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project has started the work of controlling river erosion.
A contract agreement has been signed with a construction company for Rs 29.634 million for the construction of a 129-meter-long 'composite' wall at Armadi in Kushma Municipality-4 and Lamakhet in Jaljala Rural Municipality, said Project Office Engineer Narjung Gurung.
Stating that work is being carried out in a hurry with the aim of completing the construction of the composite wall within the current fiscal year, he informed that the river control project is being implemented in six places in Parbat and Mustang, which are at risk of erosion of the Kaligandaki River, including Lamakhet, in the current fiscal year.
