Of the applications for election police recruitment targeted at the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21, 80 percent are from outside the district.
According to the District Police Office, despite the adverse weather conditions in the Himalayan region, a significant number of young people have come from outside the district to join the election police.
Earlier, as per the Joint Procedures of the District Police Office and the Armed Police Force Nepal, 2082, applications were invited from qualified Nepali citizens for the selection, appointment and deployment of election police here.
The applications were opened at the District Police Office until Magh 2, but two more days were extended after the required number was not reached. Out of the 312 election police numbers demanded here, 266 for the Nepal Police and 46 for the Armed Police Force Nepal, 323 people applied, said Santosh Basyal, Information Officer of the District Police Office.
He said that people came from Myagdi, Baglung, Parbat, Dhading, Rukum, Rolpa and Gorkha to apply here.
