Lamjung Police have arrested two prisoners who escaped from Kaski Prison and handed them over to the respective prisons.
They were arrested while hiding after escaping from Kaski Prison on Bhadra 24 during the Genji movement.
According to Police Inspector Abhishek Pandey, Information Officer of Lamjung District Police, 35-year-old Tek Bahadur Gurung of Lamjung Besisahar Municipality-10, Khasur Besi, who is serving a prison sentence for theft, and Kumar BK, 28-year-old Kumar Bik of Dordi Rural Municipality-4, Kupling, who is serving a life sentence for murder, were arrested and sent to the relevant prison on Thursday.
According to Lamjung Police, 48 prisoners and detainees who have escaped have been arrested so far and sent to the relevant prison.
Since some prisoners and detainees are still absconding, Lamjung District Police Chief DSP Resham Bohara has requested that if there is any information about them hiding, the nearest police office should be informed. He said that the name and address of the person providing the information will be kept confidential.
On July 19, 109 prisoners and detainees were transferred to Kaski and Tanahun prisons on July 20 after a wall near the gate of Lamjung Prison collapsed, posing a security risk. They had escaped using the opportunity of the Genji movement.
