71 percent physical progress has been made in the Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7 Dharapani-Takam-Shiwang-Jhindanda section upgrade project under the Darwang-Muna-Dhorpatan road project here.

This is a strategically important and prioritized road project in Myagdi. The Beni-Darwang-Dharapani-Takam-Muna-Jaljala-Dhorpatan road, which is considered an alternative to the Baglung section of the Mid-Hill Highway, is going to be sloped, blacktopped and graveled from Dharapani to Jhindanda section. According to the head of the office, Senior Divisional Engineer Dr. Mahendra Baniya, the construction company had signed a contract agreement with the Infrastructure Development Office on 20 Jestha 20, 2081 for 146.1 million. The contractor has completed the construction of the structure and laid the base and subbase after completing the construction of the structure. The construction of the road, drainage and wall for a distance of 6 kilometers has reached the final stage. The road reached Dharapani in 2066 BS. This road is the main route used by residents of five wards of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality. Ashok Khatri, Ward Chairman of Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-7, informed that the locals are excited after the road upgrade work has gained momentum. The construction company has stated that the road, which is in the final stage of widening the road at a rate of eight meters, and the construction of drains and retaining walls, will be completed within the current fiscal year. This road was previously four to five meters wide. Under this road project, another project, for which a contract agreement has been signed for Rs 588 million and Rs 53 million, has also been started, said Resham Jugjali, a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly elected from Myagdi 1 (B).

The contract period of this project, which was signed in Ashar, is 27 months. Jugjali said that it is considered to be of strategic importance as it will shorten the travel time between Pokhara and Kathmandu by 70 kilometers for residents of Mangala Malika and Dhawalagiri rural municipalities in Myagdi, as well as Dhorpatan and Purvi Rukum in Baglung.

The center of Dhawalagiri, Muna, via Khoria and Mareni, to Jaljala in Dhorpatan was connected by road in Ashar. A road has already been constructed from Dhorpatan to Jaljala.
