The road that collapsed near Durga Temple in Byas Municipality-3 of Tanahun under the Pokhara section has begun to be repaired after four months. The two-lane road was made into four lanes by making a temporary structure. Out of the four, two temporary lanes had cracked due to traffic pressure and collapsed in the last week of last Shrawan.
The repair of the flooded road section has begun from today, said Bishnu Prasad Pandey, engineer of Muglin Pokhara Road Project (Eastern Section). According to him, after about 100 meters of the road was flooded, traffic in the area was stopped and brought into operation in one direction. He informed that the repair work has been started by removing the blacktop in the flooded area.
The 41.5 kilometer section from Jamune to Aanbukhaireni under the eastern section of the Muglin-Pokhara road has been completed in four lanes. The agreement was signed on Magh 17, 2077 BS and work began on Baisakh 2, 2078 BS. The contract for the eastern section has been awarded to China Communication Construction.
The road was made into a four-lane road with the help of a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) after the traffic pressure on the road, which was delineated in 2026 BS, increased. The contract for the eastern section is worth Rs 6.21 billion.
