MPs demand action against those who burned down the Provincial Assembly building

What you should know

The Gandaki Provincial Assembly is holding its meeting in the hall of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives after the building was destroyed in arson on Bhadra 24.

Speaking during the zero hour of Friday's meeting, UML MP Bed Bahadur Gurung has demanded action against those who burned the provincial assembly building.

While making this demand, he also referred to a video that went public after the protest. A video of a man talking on the phone after the arson was made public on social media. 'Oh, they ran away, poor people! They were completely destroyed today. The biggest victory is that they burned the provincial assembly,' the man was saying on the phone.

He had also said that Congress leader Gagan Thapa was a person who should be 'dragged' and beaten. After hearing the news of the arson and vandalism of Kantipur and Annapurna media houses, he had also made very disparaging comments about these media houses.

He is seen in the video standing in front of the provincial training institute located next to the provincial assembly and talking on the phone. The institution's building was burning while he was talking on the phone. MP Gurung has demanded action against those who celebrated by creating havoc and burning the parliament. 'While the video of such criminals is going viral, there has been no action or arrest against them so far. Therefore, immediate action should be taken against those criminals,' he demanded.

The identity of the young man who spoke on the phone in this way has not been revealed. The security apparatus is trying to identify him. Kaski police are arresting those who set fire to the police office and personal property. Those who set fire to the provincial assembly secretariat, looted and vandalized have not been arrested.
