Krishnaraj Dahal, the ward president of Kaski's Madi Rural Municipality-12, who went to America after his wife contracted DV, has resigned from his post. He submitted his resignation letter to village chairman Devijung Gurung on October 1 through WhatsApp.

His resignation was accepted by the 49th executive meeting on Sunday. 

Chairman Gurung said that Dahal sent his resignation letter saying that he is not in a condition to return to regular work. "First, you said that I will come until the second week of October. Now I have resigned because I can't do anything,' he said. 

President Gurung said that the decision of the executive meeting that the resignation was accepted will now be informed to the Election Commission. Dahal did not disclose the matter outside the country in the letter. He has mentioned in the subject letter that he is outside the ward and cannot be present.

After his wife was diagnosed with DV, in June 2081, he went to America after giving a caretaker to a ward member. He gave the role of acting ward president to female ward member Lakshmi Giri on June 16, 2016, saying that she would be out of the ward for a few days. Dahal gave the reason why he had to go to Kathmandu for a week for treatment because a family member was injured in an accident.

After reaching America, he sent another message that he would return in two months. Later again asked for 6 months time. He asked for a last chance to come back in a year. Even after a year, he did not return. Last time, he sent a message to the rural municipality chairman that he will return in Kattik. 

Ward President Dahal was found to have deposited services in his bank account in Nepal even when he was in America. The village council's office had sent a total of Rs.

After he went to America, that is, from July to November 2081, he received transportation facilities of 7,500 rupees, newspaper and internet facilities of 17,500 rupees, telephone facilities of 17,500 rupees, hospitality facilities of 30,000 rupees, monitoring facilities of 30,000 rupees, coordination and facilitation facilities of 12,500 rupees. Apart from this, 20,000 rupees were also deposited in his account for festival facilities.

With his resignation, one of the four members is ready to be given the responsibility of acting ward president. Village Chairman Devijang Gurung said that they were asked to send the name of one person after consulting four members. After the ward president resigned, the caretaker given by him is not acceptable. We have said that one of the members should come together, we will appoint him as the caretaker and send him," he said.
