This year, potatoes worth 1 billion 946 million rupees have been produced in Baglung. Farmers here have been cultivating potatoes in two seasons, winter and winter. Dry potato production is more than winter. In terms of potato production, since the upper areas of the district are suitable, potatoes worth crores of rupees are produced every year.

Since Agricultural Knowledge Center Baglung has been investing in potato farming, farmers have also been attracted towards it. Tamankhola, Tarakhola, Nisikhola, Kathekhola rural municipality, Dhorpatan and Galkot municipalities and other areas produce more potatoes. Santosh Adhikari, information officer of Krishi Gyan Kendra Baglung, informed that 55,600 metric tons of potatoes were planted in an area of ​​2,860 hectares this year.

He says that the area cultivated this year and the production has decreased compared to the previous year. According to him, potatoes were planted in an area of ​​3,700 hectares last year and 56,240 metric tons were produced. Compared to last year, potatoes were planted in 840 hectares less area this year.

The potato produced by farmers was sold at 35 rupees per kilo, the official informed. The Knowledge Center has expanded the new area at a cost of Rs.

"The upper area of ​​Baglung has a suitable climate for potato production, here the potato is produced well, the farmers are excited, we have been for the expansion of its area and increase production for three years", the official said, "With the expansion of the potato area, advanced varieties will be planted by using new technology, fertilizer management, irrigation management, this year the target is to plant potato in an area of ​​43 hectares."
