District Administration Office Kaski has requested the tourists not to go on a trek as there is a possibility of snowfall and heavy rain in the high Himalayan region.

The administration has requested the hikers to do so as there is a possibility of snowfall as moderate to heavy rains have been predicted in the whole country and even in Gandaki province from today till next October 20th.

World famous Annapurna Base Camp (AVC), Mardi Himal Base Camp, Model Machhapuchhre Trek, Kapuche Padayatra and Khumai have been alerted through public notices to avoid trekking, Assistant Chief District Officer Shiv Prasad Lamsal said.

He said, "There is a possibility of snowfall in the high Himalayan region. Therefore, we have asked you not to go out to any place in the hiking area for ``trekking'' considering the safety of Jiuzyan." Due to the Dasain holidays, there used to be a crowd of trekkers in the trekking areas here in the past years.

This year, the tourism sector has been affected after the administration asked not to go on treks with the forecast of heavy rain and snow. During Dasain and Tihar holidays, the hotels and restaurants along the footpaths used to be full of tourists.

Likewise, the administration has also requested everyone to be alert and to contact the relevant local level, people's representatives, nearby police units, security agencies, saying that floods, landslides, inundation, snowfall etc. may occur due to rain.
