Almost a decade after the implementation of federalism, Mahashila Rural Municipality has started services from its own building. The service, which has been operating from the office of the old Balakot borough and Ward No. 3 since its inception, has been operated from its own building since this week.

Devendra Pandey, the chief administrative officer of the rural municipality, informed that the service was started from the facility-equipped building built in Kafaldanda on the border of Mahashila-3 and Ward No. 5. The building was constructed at a cost of nearly five crores.

He said that the service of all the branches of the municipality was conducted from the building with thirty rooms. Administrative officer Pandey says that if the service had to be provided uncomfortably from a narrow and dilapidated building, now the services are being provided to all the wards in an integrated manner from one building and it is convenient for both the citizens and the employees. Although the

service has started, the building is yet to be handed over, said Ishwari Prasad Bhusal, chairman of the rural municipality. All the six ward offices of Mahashila, the smallest municipality of the district, have been built. Since the physical infrastructure of the municipality has been prepared, now emphasis has been started on roads and education.

The construction of a 10-bed basic hospital of the municipality has reached its final stage. Chairman Bhusal informed that the municipality prioritizes quality roads and education to prevent increasing migration.

Along with this, the six local levels of the mountains have started operating their offices by constructing their own buildings. Apart from Kushma municipality, which is also the headquarters, six other municipalities have already built their own buildings. Modi, Payu, Bihadi and Jaljala Rural Municipality have built their own buildings. Falewas municipality building construction has reached the final stage.
