The blocked Beni-Jomsom road was opened

The Beni-Jomsom road, which was closed since Sunday after removing the landslide with the help of the Nepali Army, has resumed operation since 10 pm.

The blocked Beni-Jomsom road was opened

Beni-Jomsom-Korla road has been operational since this morning.

Direct traffic was blocked on the 76-kilometer Beni-Jomsom road since Sunday morning due to a landslide in Kavrevir, which is located on the border of Annapurna in Myagdi and Thasang Rural Municipality in Mustang.

With the help of the Nepalese army, the road was opened at 10:00 pm by breaking the large stones piled up on the road using explosives and with the help of dozers, the road was opened at 10:00 pm, said Chief Assistant Police Inspector Meen Bahadur Khatri. 

"Technical staff of Beni-Jomsom-Korla road project office, team of security personnel along with Nepalese army worked till night to open the road," he said, "With the road opening, the vehicles stopped at Mustang grass and Kavre in Myagdi are heading towards their destination."

When the road was blocked, the cargo trucks carrying goods from Korlanaka, containers, Mustang apples and potatoes to the market were stopped in the grass. Pilgrims, locals and tourists from different parts of the country and from India are going to the destination to do Pitru Tarpan at Kagbeni in Mustang on Sohrashradh. 

After the closure of Tatopani and Rasuwa checkpoints in Sindhupalchok, the traffic on the Beni-Jomsom road has increased as goods needed for Dasain have been brought to the Nepali market from Korlanaka in Mustang.
