The program of giving subsidy based on the quantity of milk produced by farmers has become effective in Baglung. Farmers who have collected and marketed milk through cooperatives have received a subsidy of Rs 5 per liter of milk.

In the financial year 2081/82, the farmers belonging to the eight dairy cooperatives of Baglung have received a subsidy of 37 lakh 32 thousand. Nearly 800 farmers have benefited from the subsidy.

Veterinary Hospital and Veterinary Center has informed that the farmers receive the subsidy through the cooperatives that have a minimum of 200 liters of milk in a day. According to Dr. Rishiram Sapkota, head of the

center, one of the successful and effective programs of the center is the incentive amount that milk farmers get based on production. According to Sapkota, those who directly sell milk produced by farmers in the market will not get subsidy.

'Subsidy based on production is a very effective subsidy program, the more farmers produce, the more subsidies they get. Sapkota said, ``38 lakh budget has been managed to give a subsidy of five rupees'', Sapkota said, 'We have given subsidies to farmers through cooperatives to produce milk and market it lump sum, the subsidy has been increasing annually.' According to the expert center, farmers can be subsidized for 1 million liters of milk.

Although 15 production cooperatives collect and send milk to the District Cooperative Association in Baglung market, only 8 cooperatives that deal with 200 liters of milk per day have received subsidy at the rate of 5 rupees per liter based on the production.
