The sand produced by the river, extracted from the Kaligand river against the rules, has been confiscated. The river products collected against the rules were confiscated and sent to Baglung Municipality for action on the initiative of the District Coordination Committee, Baglung.

On the initiative of District Coordination Committee, 1.5 million revenue has been collected by confiscating the sand collected by illegal mining of Kaligand within Baglung Municipality.

Four thousand 972 cubic meters of sand collected from Dablyang located in Baglung Municipality-10 and Bhatekhola Bagar located in Baglung Municipality were seized and sent to the municipal office for revenue collection.

Baglung Municipality has taken action against various people who collect sand illegally from Bhatekhola Bagar, Dablyang Bagar and collected revenue of Rs. According to him, the city has punished various crusher businessmen and illegal exploitation of river products as a fine.

According to Regmi, although there is a legal provision which prohibits mining of river materials from last June to August 15th, revenue was collected by exploiting and confiscating the materials kept by the river at night. After the extraction of river materials, the district coordination committee sent it to the municipality for action after monitoring.

Amar Bahadur Thapa, the head of the district coordination committee, said that the state is instructing Baglung municipality to assess the results of the sand illegally mined for tax evasion and punish Baglung municipality.

'Sand can't be extracted from Kaligandaki now, it can be extracted according to the standards only after signing the contract,' he said. But he said that because the river was being exploited in the middle of the night, he started charging fines. "This campaign will not only be limited to Baglung municipality but will be run throughout the district, it is necessary to end the practice of losing revenue at the local level and exploiting river products," said Chief Thapa.
