Traveling to Bukipatan is becoming easier, a resting place for tourists

What you should know

Until last year, there were no structures built for tourists going to Bukipatan to rest near the footpath. Tired of walking for hours, tourists used to rest near Goretto. But now that problem has been solved.

The first place of Bukipatan, Garpacheda, is reached only after about 5 hours of uphill walking from Dhorpatan valley. The resting places built along the footpaths have made the journey to Bukipatan easier for domestic and foreign tourists.

Tourism and Industry Office Baglung has built a rest stop at three places, Chepta Dhunga, Dhunge Deurali and Garpacheda, with a footpath at a cost of 20 lakhs. Tourists also spend the night at the resting place. Being a high mountain area, the weather here is very cold, so warm clothes are necessary when staying at the resort.

Bukipatan, which has been in the news since last year, this year more than 100 tourists are coming up from Dhorpatan valley every day. Tourists who have reached Dhorpatan sometimes get stuck on the way while climbing Bukipatan. Jeevan Pun, President of Dhorpatan Association of Hoteliers, said that one should not travel from Dhorpatan valley to Bukipatan after 2 o'clock in the afternoon after checking the weather. He requested not to travel in the evening as it takes 3 to 5 hours to reach Bukipatan.

'Bukipatan is at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters, so you may get a lake, you should be careful, you should not plan your trip after 2:00 p.m. when going up (Bukipatan), you should carry enough food and medicine for hot water in your bag,' he said.

Rupesh Waiba, who came to visit from Kathmandu, said that since it was very steep from Thadokhola, after reaching Dhunge Deurali, he reached Garpacheda after resting for 2 hours. He says that the resting place covered with wooden planks and zinc leaves along the footpath has given great relief to tourists like him.

'You have built a resting place even in such a difficult place, you can stay here even at night, it is much more enjoyable to stay in a resting place than in a barn,' Waiba said, 'It would have been better if there had been a well-organized door in the resting place.

David Gurung, who came from Pokhara, said that while he was traveling late from Dhorpatan, before reaching Bukipatan, he laid down a 'sleeping bag' and stayed at the rest area. He said that he came for a tour in a group of four people and spent the night at the resting place there after evening when he reached Cheptadhunga.
