The work of burying the pole, which started after the demarcation of Phewatal, a major tourist destination in Pokhara, has been completed.

Pokhara Metropolitan City, Gandaki  In the joint initiative of the state and the government of Nepal, the burying of the boundary pillar on the lake shore was started from last May 17th. Dhanraj Acharya, head of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, informed that 1,555 pillars were buried in Talghar of Phewa. 

Earlier, the technical sub-committee formed by the Supreme Court Judgment Implementation Facilitation Committee had demarcated the burying of one thousand and 55 poles on the shores of Fewa Lake. With the completion of the work of burying the pole at the place demarcated by the technician, now in the second phase, the work of classifying the shares in the Talghar area and within the 65 meter area of the lake  He said it will be started. "The work of burying the pole in the first phase of Phewa shore (Talghar) has been completed on Wednesday. This has made historic progress in the direction of Phewa lake protection. In the second phase, we will classify the plots of land and determine which will be compensated and which will be void", he said.

The technical team has marked the locations where poles have been buried where possible and necessary markings have been given in the steep terrain. The city has said that it will recommend compensation for the compensable portion in the third phase under the Fewa Lake conservation campaign and the land will be vacated only after receiving the compensation.

According to the latest study, the area of Fewatal is 6.343 square kilometers (12 thousand 468 ropani 3 paisa 3 dam). Earlier, state-of-the-art GPS technology and drone survey were used for the demarcation of Phewa Lake.After burying the pillars in the four forts of Phewatal, it is believed that it will contribute to preserving the environment, natural heritage and cultural identity of Pokhara, said Acharya, the head of the metropolis.

The Supreme Court on 4th June 2080 issued a writ of mandate in the name of Nepal Government, State Government and Pokhara Metropolitan City to remove all the structures from the shore of Fewa Lake up to 65 meters.All temporary and permanent structures were ordered to be removed by declaring the area from the highest water point of Barkhayam to 65 meters as intermediate green zone.
