Engineer Chudaraj Dhakal, the director of the Butwal-Narayangadh road project under construction, himself got stuck in the jam.

He came on Wednesday to inspect the work being done in Downne and got stuck in the traffic jam at Bardghat. 'We couldn't come to Kawasoti,' Dhakal said on the telephone, 'Today, the program to come to Kawasoti-Narayandh was fixed while looking at the highway. It didn't seem possible in such a long jam.'

As the vehicles stuck in the mud of the south road of East Nawalparasi under the East-West Highway could not be removed, there is a queue of vehicles for 77 kilometers on the highway. The highway has been blocked since 30 hours ago.

The vehicle stuck in the mud near the Vishwakarma temple in Daunne could not be pulled out for 30 hours. On Wednesday evening, the highway was dry and one-way traffic was resumed, but due to the rain that fell at 8:30 in the night, the highway was blocked again when the vehicle got stuck on the muddy road.

The police stopped traffic on the diversion road of Vinayi Khola for about 2 hours on Wednesday evening.

DSP Madhu Nepal of East Nawalparasi issued a public notice on Thursday morning and said that due to the bad condition of the highway in Daunne, they have been requested to travel from other highways.
