Haridhwaj Tulachan, a senior tourism entrepreneur from Pokhara, and Urmila Gurung, an active youth tourism activist from Sirubari in Syangja, have been honored with the 'Hutraj Shrestha Smriti Tourism Award'. Tourism Business Women's Association of Nepal (TEWAN) awarded them on the occasion of the seventh annual general meeting and fourth session in Pokhara on Thursday.

Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey honored Janahi with 15 thousand 555 rupees. He said that Pokhara's tourism activity is commendable and emphasized that the tourism awareness here should be taken across the country. He said that the private sector should invest a lot in tourism and the government will support the promotional activities.

81-year-old Tulachan, born in Mustang, is an old character in Pokhara's tourism history. He stepped into the tourism sector by operating the Dragon Hotel at the beginning of Pokhara's tourism. Along with tourism, he has been playing a leading role in the social and religious fields as well. Being active for more than 60 years, he has contributed significantly to this field.

36-year-old Urmila Gurung of Syangja Sirubari, Nepal's first homestay, is active in promoting local tourism. She returned to the village from Pokhara and has been leading the work of homestay operation, hospitality, cultural program management, etc. She is also giving homestay management training in different places of the country. Tumla Shrestha, wife of the late Hutraj Shrestha, contributed Rs 5 lakh 51 thousand 111 on the occasion of International Women's Day for the creation of the Akshaya Fund for the

award. Recently she added one lakh rupees to the fund. The prize will be awarded every year from the interest of the said fund.

A five-member committee formed under the coordination of tourism businessman Sanjay Kant Sigdel has selected the personality to be awarded. Tourism expert Tikaram Sapkota, Tewan president Kamala Giri, Tumla Shrestha, Prabhatraj Shrestha and Pritamraj Shrestha from Hutraj Shrestha's family were members of the committee. The

convention has elected an 11-member working committee under the chairmanship of Shobha Neupane Pandey. Anita Khadka Bhattarai is the vice president of the committee, Shobha Adhikari Paudel is the general secretary, Shanta Subedi Timilsina is the secretary, Sharda Lamsal is the treasurer, Kamala Gurung is the senior member and Meena Baral Lama, Bishnumaya Gurung, Gyanu Shrestha, Sudha Subedi Baral and Jaya Karki are the members.
