The Ministry of Health of the Government of Gandaki is going to create a hospital strengthening fund. Hospitals under the provincial government will contribute 15 percent of their annual income to this fund.

The financial procedures of the hospital management committee, approved by the provincial cabinet meeting on Monday, made the provision.  Health Minister Krishna Prasad Pathak said that after the introduction of the

procedure, the hospital management committee will not be able to spend the income of the hospital on its own. He said that only after the ministry approves the annual program of the hospital, the committee will be able to spend according to the procedure.

The amount of the Hospital Strengthening Fund under the Ministry will be spent on the strengthening of provincial hospitals and health institutions under the local level. Minister Pathak said that the financial procedure will be strictly implemented to improve the financial condition of the hospital and maintain good governance.

The Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Vishwabandhu Bagale, said that there will be further discussion on the procedure after it is approved by the Council of Ministers. "There may be some corrections and revisions," he said. According to the ministry, the annual income of hospitals under Gandaki province is about Rs 67 crore.

It is said that with the upgrading of 13 hospitals in the province, the income of the hospital will increase further. The provincial cabinet meeting on Monday decided to upgrade nine hospitals. The meeting has determined and approved the number of beds and the number of posts in that hospital.

Before that, the state government had upgraded four hospitals including two Ayurveda hospitals. Organization and Management Survey (ONM) of all 13 upgraded hospitals has been approved.

'Legal and structural arrangements have been made in a short period of time to improve the health sector of Gandaki Province,' Minister Pathak said, 'This will contribute significantly to providing accessible and quality services to the citizens.'

Minister Pathak says that after upgrading, the development of those hospitals will be given priority in the next year's budget. According to him, the number of beds approved earlier was only 220, but now the approved beds have reached 650. While 325 posts have been maintained, the number of approved posts has reached 827.
