On the occasion of 75 years since the successful climbing of Annapurna first mountain, the Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated with various programs. The Nepal Tourism Board, the organizer of the 75th year of successful climbing, announced the information at a press conference held in Pokhara on Monday.

Maniraj Lamichhane, head of the Pokhara Board, said that the trek will be held from May 17 to 20 on Narchang-Annapurna North Base Camp-Narchang footpath in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Myagdi. French mountaineers Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachen successfully climbed the 8,91-meter mountain on June 3, 1950 without oxygen. A 14-member team including Herzog's son Matthias Emmanuel Maximilian, grandson Simon Jacques, researcher, mountaineer has come to Kathmandu to participate in the trek, said Krishna Acharya, president of Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN), Gandaki, co-organizer of the program. The team will arrive in Pokhara on May 16. 

The trekking team will reach Samdhikhark on the first day on June 17 via Narchang, Humkhola. On the second day, on May 18, from Samdhikhark, passing through Bhusket Mela, will stay at the North Annapurna base camp. On the third day, there will be a musical program at Bhusket, a program with a discussion about Herzog's contribution. On that day, the team will stay at Hum River. Annapurna Rural Municipality President Bharat Kumar Pun said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will unveil the bust of Maurice Herzog, Louis Lachen and the first Nepali mountaineer Sonam Wangchuk Sherpa at the base camp the next day on June 3 i.e. May 20. 

The trekking team will come to Ghorepani on May 20 and stay. After watching the sunrise from Ghorepani-Punhil, the team will return to Pokhara on May 21. On May 22, Herzog's son Matthias will hand over the materials used during the climb to the International Mountain Museum in Pokhara. 

Ambassadors of 12 different countries have been invited to participate in the Diamond Jubilee, Nepal Tourism Board Pokhara chief Mani Lamichhane informed. The ambassadors coming to the program will reach Narchang only. On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee, a 30 km race will be held from Annapurna base camp to Narchang village. Only runners from Myagdi will be allowed to participate in the race. A team of around 100 people will reach the base camp to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, including participating in a run and a walk.
