Mahashila Rural Municipality of Parbat has introduced policies and programs in Khima script of Gurung language. While the Gandaki state government has advanced a bill to use Gurung and Magar languages ​​as official languages ​​apart from Nepali, Mahashila has published policies and programs in Gurung language.

Chief Administrative Officer Devendra Pandey informed that the policy and program has been published through his website. When the government is preparing to introduce the Gurung language as a working language, Mahashila decided to publicize the policies and programs of the current fiscal year 2081/82 in the Gurung language and script.

Chief Administrative Officer Pandey informed that Mahashila rural municipality has become the first level to publicize policies and programs in the local language. The same policy and program has now been published in Gurung language.

He said that policies and programs are written in Khima script within the Gurung language. Earlier, Mahashila had brought policies and programs in Nepali language giving priority to economic development sector, social development sector, health, social justice, drinking water, physical infrastructure, disaster and environment, institutional service delivery and good governance sector.

Similarly, children, senior citizens and social security, health services, sports and entertainment, culture, cooperation with the provincial government and other topics were included in the policies and programs. Chairman of the rural municipality, Ishwari Prasad Bhusal, informed about the three priority areas, which have now been published in Khima script of the Gurung language. He said that it will be published simultaneously in both languages ​​from next year. 

Gurung community resides in all 6 wards of Mahashilaka. Before bringing the bill to include Gurung and Magar languages ​​as official languages, the Gandaki government visited Gurung and Magar-dominated districts and collected suggestions from the stakeholders.
