Road upgrading from Harichok to Yamdi bridge in the Pokhara section under Madhyapahari Lokmarg under construction is continuing. The four-lane road of this section is currently being paved.
According to the Madhyapahari Public Road Project Office, since the second week of last April, the work of paving the road using 'asphalt' technology has been going on.
So far, one-way black paper has been completed from Harichok to Jowari check post. Kiran Subedi, information officer of the Madhyapahari Highway Project Office, informed that nearly one and a half km of the road has run out of black paper.
He said, "There is now a one-way traffic jam on Harichok-Yamdi section. We are planning to complete the work on both sections within the current financial year.
Harichok-Yamdi road will be widened by 18 meters. Similarly, the project said that it is 21 meters including the drain. In this section, the asphalt black sheet will be 15 cm thick.
As the work of this road was slow for a long time, the passengers traveling on the highway suffered. Due to the delay in the construction of the two km 200 meter long road, travel was difficult due to dust in winter and mud in dry season. When the construction of the road was slow, the locals came down on the road and pressed to speed up the work.
Bhanubhakta Adhikari of Pokhara Harichok expressed his happiness that the black paper work has started despite the delay. He believes that it will be easier now that they suffered a lot when the road was not built for a long time.
Madhyapahari Public Road Project Office Parbat signed an agreement with Motidan Construction Services Pvt Ltd of Kathmandu for the cost of Rs 480 crore including value added tax in two years.
Every day, hundreds of public and private vehicles from the districts of Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, Mustang, Rukum Purv pass through this road on the old Pokhara-Baglung highway. They travel to and from Pokhara.
