Portraits of 11 British Gurkha soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan have been handed over to the families of the deceased. On Sunday, the same photo has been unveiled to be placed in the Gorkha Memorial Museum in Pokhara.
Veterans CAN team brought those pictures which are displayed in Gorkha Museum in Winchester, UK to Nepal.
Painter and ex-soldier Kevin Wills painted portraits of the 457 British Army officers and soldiers killed in Afghanistan. The Gurkha Brigade lost 15 people in the Afghanistan conflict. Painter Kevin also came to Nepal with these paintings from Britain. Hari Budha Magar, an ex-Gurkha soldier who successfully climbed Mount Everest in 2023, also participated in the picture handing over event.
The British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, Gareth Williams, co-founder of Veterans Can, also participated in the photo handover and unveiling event. Painter Kevin said that he started making pictures four years ago so that those who made the last sacrifice would not be forgotten. He said that it was a great honor to hand over the pictures to the museum along with the family members.
