Gaje Ghale, who was awarded the Victoria Cross (VC), Britain's highest military award, has established a museum in his name at Barpak, his birthplace. Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey inaugurated the museum established on the ancestral land of Ghale on Friday.

At the entrance of the museum, a half-height salik has been constructed. Inside the museum, photographs and various documents related to Gaje Ghale are kept. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery in World War II. Ghale's family established the museum with their own investment.

His family member Chandra Ghale said that visitors to the museum will be able to understand the heroism of the world-famous Ghale. "Barpak is connected with the name of Gaje Ghale, if there is nothing here about Gaje Ghale known to the world, the tourists will be upset," he said, "now this museum and Salik have given an opportunity to understand many things about Gaje Ghale." "Barpak has a unique history of being born in VC Gaje Gha, out of 13 VC winners in Nepal, three of them were from Gorkha," he said, "so Gorkha is the place where Veer Saput was born. We are going to promote Barpak, which is known to the world, in terms of tourism. The book 'Gaje Ghale' was also released at the opening ceremony of the museum.
