Hirak Mahotsav is going to be celebrated on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the first ascent of the Annapurna mountain in Myagdi, where the history of Nepal's mountaineering tourism is linked.

The route and base camp for climbing the eight thousand and 91 meter high Annapurna mountain on the border of Myagdi, Kaski, Manang and Mustang districts is located in the geography of Annapurna rural municipality-4 Narchang in Myagdi.

Annapurna is called the oldest mountain due to the fact that it was the first human footstep over 8,000 meters high. On June 3, 1950, three years after the French team of Maurice Herzog and Louis Lachenal climbed the summit of Annapurna, the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, was successfully climbed.

The President of Annapurna Rural Municipality, Bharat Kumar Pun informed that the Hirak Mahotsav will be held from May 16th to 22nd in commemoration of the day that the Himalayas will be known all over the world and the development of Nepal's tourism sector and mountaineering.

'After 75 years of climbing, the festival is going to be celebrated for the first time in the relevant geography', he said, 'Hirak Mahotsav is organized because Annapurna climbing by Hargoz's team has internationalized Nepal's mountain climbing potential.'

Earlier, Annapurna Climbing Day was celebrated by holding programs in Kathmandu and Pokhara. On the occasion of the festival, a trek from Narchang to the Annapurna base camp from May 16 to 19, the equipment used by the first climber Herzog on the 19th, will be handed over by his family to the International Mountain Museum Pokhara run by the Nepal Mountaineering Association, and the book "The Annapurna" written by Herzog and translated by the French Embassy will be released.   Chairman Pun said that on May 19th and 20th, there will be a traditional dance and tableau exhibition based on Magar culture with the participation of all eight wards of Annapurna Rural Municipality, open dance, a marathon race competition from the base camp to Narchang on the 20th, the unveiling of the helmets of the climbers kept at the base camp, the opening of the museum and the Maurice Hargoz footpath, the main ceremony, the distribution of awards and prizes, and the program will conclude on the 21st with a festival at Ghodepani Punhill, a tourist spot. .

Annapurna Rural Municipality, Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Mountaineering Association, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) and Annapurna Rural Municipality Tourism Development Committee are co-organizers of the festival. Narchang Ward Office, Sirjanshil Mother Group, Annapurna and Janajagaran Youth Club have been given responsibility for the festival management. The original ceremony committee, formed under the leadership of rural village chairman Pun, has started preparations for the festival by forming various sub-committees. Under the leadership of Narchang Tej Gurung, in 2068, Annapurna Himal and base camp Myagdi were identified and the trail was identified. The footpath has been named 'Maurice Herzog' by Annapurna Rural Municipality.

In Narchang, which is the entry point of the footpath, the rural municipality organized the Annapurna Tourism Festival in 2077. Two local levels of Kaski and Myagdi have been named after Annapurna Himal. The Annapurna cycle trail that spans the Annapurna Himal is considered the world's most famous trail.
