Kaligandaki Tarn Sanghu Bhar

Kowang, Larjung and Khanti villages of Thasang rural municipality-2 are connected to the national highway but Sauru and Sirkung of the same ward have become inaccessible due to Kaligandaki.

The sources of livelihood of the people of Sauru and Sirkung, where 40 families live, are agriculture and animal husbandry. As there is no bridge in Kaligand, they have a problem to deliver their produce apples, lice, beans, barley, beans, bodi and vegetables to the market.

The villages of Sauru and Sirkung, who are raising yaks and goats, cross the river through a temporary narrow in winter, but during the rainy season, they have to walk for more than three hours to reach the highway via the Kokhethati road. Sojan Heerachan of Saura said that it is difficult for secondary level students to reach school and get health services in Barkhama Ward and Rural Municipality Office.

Before the federal  system was started, even the former district development committee did not try to build a bridge in Kaligandaki to connect Sauru and Sirkung with the highway. He complains that after the RCC pillar of the bridge built with the help of the locals was washed away by the flood, there are no signs of the bridge being built.

On 30 Baisakh 2077, the Suspension Bridge Division Office started the plan for a 570-meter long suspension bridge. Gautam Sherchan, Ward President of Thasang-2, informed that the work of the suspension bridge, which had a contract with Elite Ruvina Construction for 5 crores, is currently stalled.
