Two laborers have died due to lightning in Annapurna Rural Municipality of Kaski.
44-year-old Bharat Puvir Rai and 18-year-old Mahesh Rai of Silichong Rural Municipality-2 of Sankhuwasabha were killed while working on the Triveni Lake footpath in Pode, Annapurna Rural Municipality-11 on Sunday, according to Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Basant Kumar Sharma.
It is said that out of the nine people who were involved in widening the road, putting stairs and building railings on the Trivenital footpath at an altitude of 3800 meters above sea level, the remaining seven people are said to be safe.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Shama said that after getting information about the incident, a team of four people led by a police inspector from the district police office went to the incident site on Sunday. He said, "The police team from the district reached Ghandruk last night and settled down. Since it will take more than five hours to walk from there, the process of bringing the dead bodies will be started by noon.
Nepal Tourism Board and the rural municipality said that the construction of the footpath has started with the joint investment of the rural municipality.
